CTCL's Summer Reading Challenge is coming! Participate all summer long to earn points and win prizes. Register through Beanstack, and then stop in the Library and grab a paper log to keep track of your points.
Registration opens Saturday, June 13th and runs through Saturday, August 15th.
How it works:
- Download the Beanstack App or stop in the Library and register in person. You can keep track through the Beanstack App or on a paper log provided at registration.
- Earn points three ways:
- Earn 1 point for every day that you read
- Earn 1 point for every book review you write in the Beanstack App
- Earn 1 point for every activity you do

Local Charity Tokens
At various points throughout the Challenge, every participant will get a token to vote for a local charity they would like an end of summer donation to go to. Donations are provided by Library staff, but the public is welcome to participate in our Penny Wars at the Reference Desks if they'd like to help out all summer long. The historically significant Byers Homestead Park is a small park located on the south side of Commerce Road and situated along the Huron River. The property was first settled in 1825 by Abram Walrod, the first European settler in Commerce Township. Many of the historic buildings remain on the site including the primary residence that was built. |

Higher Hopes! is a charitable foundation which serves food insecure families in Metro Detroit with children enrolled in Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Programs (Early Head Start, Head Start, and Great Start Readiness). The goal of Higher Hopes! is to inspire independence, relieve food anxiety, and encourage family meals together by providing a bounty of food in nutritious, multiple-meal food kits throughout the year.

Unified Sports Teams: WLCSD & Huron Valley School District Unified Sports Teams in both districts partners students with and without disabilities as teammates. Walled Lake Central was officially recognized as a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School, placing on their ESPN Honor Roll. Both districts actively participate in exhibition matches at prominent venues, including games at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. |
