DID YOU KNOW your library card gives you free access to thousands of ad-free movies and documentaries? Well it's true! There are two different streaming services available to every Commerce Township card holder, Kanopy and MyFilmFriend.
You have had access to Kanopy longer, so we'll start with that one. Kanopy is an award-winning streaming service that provides access to over 30,000 independent and documentary films, including the Great Courses and the Criterion Collection. You can stream Kanopy to your phone, tablet, computer, or TV with streaming capabilities. You will need your library card and four digit PIN to login initially. It will then ask you to create an account with an email address and a password that you will create.
To watch movies on Kanopy, you will require tickets. Every Commerce account is allotted 15 tickets each month, and they reset on the first of every month. Every film you view requires tickets, typically about 2 or more per film checked out. The loan period will be 48 to 72 hours for most movies you'll check out, but you can watch it as often as you'd like during the loan period.

The other video streaming service available for your viewing pleasure is myfilmfriend. This service is different from Kanopy in that there is no credit system, and no loan period involved. You simply find the movie, series, concert, or documentary you want and start UNLIMITED streaming. Myfilmfriend features an extensive catalog that mostly focuses on international cinema from all over the world. It also has classic movies, children's series, and documentaries. Like Kanopy, you just need your Commerce Township library card and PIN.
Myfilmfriend is designed to be intuitive and barrier-free, which means it is friendly to devices used by people with disabilities, including and visual impairments. Myfilmfriend is constantly improving its accessibility and its catalog. The only real limit on myfilmfriend is when it comes to downloads. You can download a title so that you can access it without internet access, but it only remains available for 30 days.
