The Commerce Township Fire Department is a combination department consisting of 17 full-time personnel and 25 part-time or paid-on-call firefighters. All members receive training twice a month for various firefighting duties as well as medical training. EMS personnel are licensed with the State of Michigan and full-time personnel are licensed as paramedics or emergency medical technicians.
The Department is always accepting applications for paid-on-call personnel. Annual fire academy classes are usually held each fall by one of the area fire departments.
The Township is serviced by four (4) fire stations, which house the following equipment: (4) fire engines, (2) medical units, (2) rescue unit, (1) tanker, (1) brush truck and (1) aerial ladder truck. Each of the four fire stations are manned 24 hours a day – seven days a week.
