We entered into a contract with the County Equalization Department in 1999 and kept a support group here at the township so we could provide special personalized assistance to our residents.  The cost savings to the tax payers was substantial over the years.  Now that we have had to make several financial decisions to balance the Township budget we have made some changes.

At the Township Hall Assessing Department there is a phone on the counter.  That phone is a direct call to the Oakland County Equalization Department. You only have to pick the phone up and it automatically dials to their office. In addition, there are two computers at each end of the counter; if you have an address or a Sidwell Number you will quickly be able to get the information you are looking for. You will not be able to print from these computers, so bring a pencil and paper so you can take notes.

We try to have a staff member available to answer questions but there are times that the office is unstaffed. We are also cross training other employees in all departments so you may be able to get information from Clerks, Planning, Building, or the Treasurer’s Office. Feel free to stop at one of  their counters if you have questions and someone will assist you or get your information so we can get the answer to your question.

It will take a little time to get used to, but the design of the self-serve counter has been received well by those that have used it so far.
