CALL TO ORDER: Supervisor Thomas Zoner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and introduced the members of the Board.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

MOTION by Abrams, supported by Gross, to approve the Regular Township Board Meeting Minutes of May 16, 2006 and the Discussion Meeting Minutes of May 23, 2006.                                                                       MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

 

 

PRESENTATIONS:

Thomas Moore, Firefighter explained the need as well as the bid process regarding the purchase of a new Aerial Apparatus for the Commerce Township Fire Department.

Supervisor Zoner opened the meeting to public comments, two residents were recognized, one representative from a group called Save Our State Land; and one concerned citizen relative to a continuous parking issue.

 

 

ITEM 3:6-13  PUBLIC HEARINGS         

A.  Burnet Street Low Pressure Sanitary Sewer Special Assessment District Establishment Resolution

Jay James, Township Engineer, gave a review of the proposed Special Assessment District. 

 

Supervisor Thomas Zoner opened the Public Hearing.

 

No one present had any comments or objections.

MOTION by Gross, supported by Kirkwood, to approve the Burnet Street Low Pressure Sanitary Sewer Special Assessment District Establishment Resolution.

A.  An Amendment to the Charter Township of Commerce Fee Ordinance No. 79, to Amend Section 23.1A, Water Charges, and Section 23.4D, Sewer Charges, to Set Forth New Water and Sewer Supply Fees and Related Charges of Ordinance No. 79, to be known as Ordinance No. 79-06-28.

 

MOTION by Sovel, supported by Munro, to Adopt an Ordinance to Amend Section 23.1A, Water Charges and Section 23.4D, Sewer Charges, of the Fee Ordinance of the Charter Township of Commerce to be known as Ordinance No. 79-06-28 and publish and post according to law.

B.  An Amendment to the Charter Township of Commerce Zoning Ordinance No. 55, to Amend Article II- Definitions, and Article XX- General Provisions, Section 2003, to Address the Requirements for Residential Accessory Buildings, to be known as Ordinance No. 55-06-188.

 

MOTION by Sovel, supported by Munro, to Adopt an Ordinance to Amend Article II and Article XX of the Zoning Ordinance of the Charter Township of Commerce to be known as Ordinance 55-06-188 and publish and post according to law.

MOTION by Abrams, supported by Gross, to remove the Purchasing Policy from the table.                                                                 MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

 

MOTION by Munro, supported by Gross, to approve the purchasing policy with a correction to page 2, Item d, change $1,500 to $2,500.

A.     Bids Received for Township Vehicles

 

Joseph Schornack, Fire Chief, gave a review.

 

MOTION by Abrams, supported by Kirkwood, to direct the Fire Chief and Building Director to proceed with Midwest Auction and authorize the Township Supervisor to sign off on an appropriate bid.

B.    Lake Pine Subdivision Sewer Connection Refunds

No action taken.

 

C.    Construction Phasing- Wastewater Treatment Plant (out of order)

 

Loren Crandall, Township Engineer and Phillip Adkison, Township Attorney gave a review relative to the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

MOTION by Abrams, supported by Kirkwood, to enter into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing purchase of property.
